A few things no one told you about your wedding day

There won’t be enough time to do everything.

In the quest for the perfect wedding day, it’s very easy to overthink just about everything that needs to be done. It doesn’t matter how well you plan, it’s always going to feel like there just isn’t enough time to do everything that needs to be done. Planning a wedding can be a very stressful time and the feeling that there just isn’t enough time to do everything is a very common occurrence. The best way to deal with this situation is to make sure you write things down. Start with a checklist of things that you need to do. Add to the list as things pop into your head. Things are always going to pop into your head at the most random times, so if you have your checklist handy, it will make remembering things much easier, which will in turn translate to lowering your stress levels! If you don’t make a checklist, you will find it impossible to manage so many things from memory.

You probably won’t be able to personally meet and greet everyone.

Unless you have a smaller gathering for your wedding, the chances are that you won’t be able to personally greet and chat with every person that is there.  You might wish to chat with everyone, but the reality is that it might not be possible to meet with everyone. Don’t be too worried about it, just try and relax as much as possible and greet as many of your guests as you can, if you can’t make it to every guest to chat, don’t be too uptight about it. Just enjoy the day!

You’re most likely going to feel some level of anxiety and nerves.

Nerves and anxiety are just a part of getting married. It’s your big day, so much planning has gone into the day and it’s very easy for nerves and anxiety to takeover when it’s finally time to walk down the aisle.  Just try not to over think things, don’t try to rush anything and be calm. Make sure you are rehearsed on what is supposed to happen when you walk down the aisle. If you are unsure, just ask your celebrant to explain to you exactly so you have directions on what to do as you are walking down the aisle. This will help to take away those feelings of anxiety!

That lovely wedding dress…. It’s going to get dirty.

Wedding dresses are made to drag along the ground, it’s just a fact of life. Your dress will get dirty. It’s going to pick up dirt from the ground when you are walking and standing around. This can often be a cause of a high level of anxiety because people don’t want their beautiful wedding dress to be getting dirty. Just be aware that it’s going to happen and don’t try to get too hung up on that fact.

All said and done, just remember, your wedding day is your special day, try to be as relaxed and happy as possible, remember to smile and enjoy the show. You’re in the starring role!
